English: Empties Through Chester, near to Hoole, Cheshire, Great Britain.
A Class 47 diesel locomotive brings a train of empty hopper wagons through the station past the disused signal box. Since this photo was taken in 1979 the signal box has been removed, leaving a hole in the wall, and the complex scissor crossing in the foreground has been replaced with a simple crossover. The bridge remains in place as does the gasometer, visible in the distance. |
