English: Eiders (Somateria mollissima), Lamba Ness. Eiders, known as Dunters in Shetland, are largely marine ducks, but may breed on moorland some distance from the sea. Rather quaintly, the male accompanies the female in walking to the nest-site, reviewing the route to the sea that will be taken by the ducklings when they hatch.
